POLKA THE ELK | CD OF NEW BASSOON MUSIC
My debut solo CD, Polka the Elk, was released on September 15, 2011 on Music Starts From Silence. The album includes world premiere recordings of new bassoon music by Padma Newsome, Tawnie Olson and David Lang, with a cameo appearance by Clogs.
Credits:
The title track was commissioned with support from the Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The recording has been funded in part through an Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artists Grant from the Durham Arts Council with support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources. Additional support was made possible by The Field through its sponsorship of the Bassoon Project, together with many generous individual donors.
A huge thanks to my supporters who made this recording possible:
Paul Beck, Cynthia & Will Clark, Bryce Dessner, Sandy & Bud Ebbett, June Elliott, Margy & Steve Elliott, Martha Elliott, Val & Matthew Elliott, Susannah Keebler, Thomas Kozumplik, Elise Landau, Sigrid Lium, Frank Morelli, Padma Newsome, Janet Polk, Jeff Rawson, Kitty & Ed Rawson, Maggie Seeger, and Lorne Watson.
